My Experience Recruiting at Western – Linda McDougall, City of London

How did the process of hiring a Western student work for you?

The process of hiring a Western student was simple and straightforward.

What skills and abilities from Western students do you value most?

Well-rounded knowledge of the environmental field, the ability to work well independently, as well as balancing their work schedule among several projects at once.

What benefits have you experienced from hiring Western students for co-op, internship and practicum opportunities?

My experience in hiring a co-op student has been great. The student showed enthusiasm for special projects, the ability to complete projects in a timely fashion, and was thorough and well organized. Gabrielle also demonstrated the willingness to take on challenging projects and tasks which have benefited our department.

Why would you recommend employers recruit at Western?

The MES Coop program has provided our department with a motivated and capable candidate to assist with a variety of environmental-related programs and strategies over the past six months. This role has complimented the work of the department and assisted in meeting deadlines and department objectives.
